Top 10 Music Videos of 2012!

OK! Here is my next 2012 Top list for music!! Very far off from MTV’s music video awards, my list is a unique selection of tracks chosen for many different reasons. Shall we get started?

10. Scissor Sisters: Let’s Have a Kiki

There isn’t much that is special about this video. The reason it is so awesome, because A, the song is awesome, and B. the entire video was shot in one take. It is a cleverly choreographed video of the group dancing to their song. Simple yet fun.

9. Cherie Lily: Dripping Wet

For reasons I can’t explain, I simply love this video. Jk, I can explain them. First of all, this track is done by Andrew W.K’s super hot wife. Second, the shear cheesiness of the song being called “Dripping Wet” and there being water EVERYWHERE, also for some reason makes me happy. But I think the coolest part is all of the queer friendly people featured in the video. People like Cazwell, Amanda LaPore, and Peaches all make cameos. This video simply makes me wet.

8. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis: Thrift Shop (feat Wanz)

Macklemore’s slowly chart climbing hit “Thrift Shop” makes a not surprisingly addition to this list for the shear awesomeness of the video. What is better than a hot guy running around in a fur coat talking about how much cheap shit he is buying? I’m watching the video likeimage

Also this girl was beautifully casted. lmfao.

7. Die Antwoord: Baby’s On Fire

Die Antwood busted out a few crazy videos this year. “Fatty Boom Boom” was a close match with this song on whether to put it on the list or not. “Fatty Boom Boom” was definitely hilarious, but also a little too personified for me. I can honestly see Yolandi getting with that hot ass man.

image

yes. you. yes………….unf

I can also see the highly hilarious opening dinner skit with their family happening. Just an all around great look into their odd lives.

6. Kerli: Zero Gravity

Although this song is not number 1 on my list, it is probably the one I have watched the most. There is something about this song AND this video that just makes me so happy. First of all, Kerli looks beyond gorgeous in it. The colors are so bright and in the HD quality it just simply looks beautiful. I can also very clearly see Kerli being this butterfly queen of all her nappy haired fan girls in this video.

image

These nappy haired fan girls to be precise. Theyre like,

OH MY GOD, YOU ESTONIAN GODDESS CAN I RUB YOU?

WHO ARE YOU WEARING?

CAN I BORROW YOUR EXTENSIONS?

5. Tangerine Kitty: Dumb Ways To Die

Now, everyone on tumblr has probably seen this video. The super adorable, and super catchy public service announcement from the Metro is definitely a music video worthy of the list, because most of you have watched it, and hey look, it has a “useful” and not at all obvious message of all the stupid ways you could and people probably have done to kill themselves.  This guy being my favorite.

image

SELL BOTH YE KIDNEYS ON THE INTERNET!

Look hes so fucking happy.

4. PSY: Gangnam Style

Okay, so. Regardless of whether you like this song or not, you have to think of it this way. What was the last time Korean pop song you heard on US radios? Oh right, never. This video is both hilarious and probably having something to do with raunchy raunchy sex. It is also pretty safe to say that the song would never have made it to where it is in the states without the help of the video. Americans like mindless, stupid entertainment, and an Asian man in a tux doing things like this

image

is hilarious. If you also think about it, this man has come so far as to being a halloween costume after just this one song. Truely a milestone in music, despite the song being goofy, it has made quite the impact.

3. Iggy Azalea: Murda Bizness

After making an oddly boring and black and white video for this song, Iggy unleashes the terrors that are the girls from Toddler’s in Tiaras, Iggy makes a hilarious allusion to the cut throat industry that is modeling/ child pageants. I just love how badass the song is, and then it is Iggy feeding a child a giant pixie stick and a (surprisingly) no name brand soda. Basically, she’s flawless:

2. Zebra Katz (feat Njena Red Foxxx): Ima Read

ZEBRRRAAA FUCKKINGGG KATZZZZZ. When this video started, I had no idea what to expect. The fat bass, with a strange and creepy video filter, followed by those creepy ass bitches jump roping.

image

Yeah these heauxz. Just a creepy ass video, for a super catchy song. If you don’t know it, familiarize yourself quick.

1. Natalia Kills: Controversy

This choice was honestly easy for me. Natalia Kills never disappoints with her cinematic music videos. They continue to be artsy, and have underlying meanings laced with very creepy visuals. “Controversy” is no different. All she has to do in this video is fucking stand there and look flawless. With creative editing, they flash images in a rapid subliminal like fashion. The video makes me so happy, as it glitches in images and her poses change with a scrambling tv flash.

image

Badass Bitch is badass.

This is also a song that I think beautifully accompanies the song. People hearing the song by itself might be taken back by the harshness of the track. It is highly industrially influenced, and that is a difficult thing for mainstream America to deal with. Natalia Kills Badger dont give a shit.

Drink the koolaid.

DONT DRINK THE KOOLAID.

Brooke Candy: Das Me

Brooke Candy

Hip Hop, Electronic

Das Me

The woman who’s name I didn’t know from the ever tumblr famous Grimes’ “Genesis” video. Now, Brook played a rather small, yet large part in that video. She was constantly in the video, although it wasn’t really about her. She just looked good in it. Now here we go. This pink braided stripper glamazonian warrior from the planet Badass comes for you.

Now in order to enjoy this song you have to realize what she is putting on the table. She is wearing a skin suit covered in armor, and has pink braids down to her ass. Recognize that this song will be fucking ridiculous.

Exhibit A:

ALL THE DUDES WIGGLE YO DICKS FO BROOKE CANDY

ALL THE HOES JIGGLE YO TITS FO BROOKE CANDY

TELL EM DAS ME.

Can we also take note in the video, this hood mama pushin her in her gold platform shoes in a golden wheelchair down the street. Im dead. This shit she says though is fucking epic.

“Tight twat; white hot.

Its time to take the word back, a slut is now a compliment

Talk about my tit size? I need to see yo dick size.”

Im here like:

Love it.

Swing dem braids girl.

Btw can we also take note that Brooke is rocking Betty Spaghetti Swag?

TELL EM DAS ME

Natalia Kills: Controversy

Natalia Kills

Electronic, Industrial, Pop

Controversy

Oh my fucking christ. The return of Natalia Kills.

With Natalia’s last album being nothing short of audible perfection, I was geeking out at the trailer for this track. It is WAY better than I could have ever fucking DREAMED.

Starting off with a static sounding voicemail from some dumb bitch, the super hot, hard, and fast beat comes in. The fact that Natalia has the balls to make such a different type of track is what makes me love her. This track has elements of industrial and old style electronica.

Natalia spits out arbritrry words and phrases that are controversial subjects. With no rhyme or reason, to the order of the list, there are

NO

FUCKS

GIVEN.

DRINK THE KOOLAID

DONT DRINKT THE KOOLAID.

CONTROVERSY.

UH HUH.

The video itself is also insanely dope and unique. Natalia never disappoints with her videos being fucking amaze balls 2013. Maybe it’s because hers are slightly dark in their message. She is such a bad bitch, she doesn’t even need to lip sync in the video. She just slowly rotates and stares into your fucking SOUL. This only makes me more excited for her new album. The amount of love i have for her is insane.

Best line of the song though.

“What the fuck you looking at? This ain’t high school pussycat. Looking down my shirt like it’s Disney Land. You waiting for fast pass.”

Karmin: Hello

Karmin

Pop

Hello

Many of you probably already know Karmin at this point with their Billboard hit “Brokenhearted”. Here they are with their music video to their second single “Hello”. Just as catchy as the first, but with more rap skills from Amy Heiderman (weird that her name isnt Karmin, I know).

Amy clearly is fed up with men

Too nice (she likes bad boys)

Too clean (dirty boys)

Too white (black guys)

Too mean (i said bad not mean)

I clearly include way too many spongebob gifs in my reviews nbd.

This chorus also features vocals from the other half of the duo Nick, which if you only know “Brokenhearted” you probably didn’t know Nick existed since he doesnt sing in that track.

Amy also lets bitches know how dope she is.

“Momma told me go and chase what ya after. Im on track so I’m gonna rap faster”

And I cant lie, she can spit lyrics pretty well. Dont underestimate the white girl. Her rhymes make more sense than any of Nicki’s new raps too.

ARE YOU A BELIEVER?!

In This Moment- Blood (UPDATE W/ MUSIC VIDEO)

In This Moment

Blood

*Music Video Review*

This video is fucking giving LIFE. First of all, my favorite holiday is probably Halloween..so any fucked up cinematics I can get I love. Maria dons her Charlize Theron Queen bitch metal crown and controls her legion of super hot masked babes.

Maria also has a new favorite dance move to go along with this song. I watched live performances of it, and it is also featured in the music video. During the chorus Maria reaches her hands in and out as if she is the puppet master of “Blood Legion”.

They have also incorporated her brand new mic stand made up of creepy masks & skulls heads (which i love). I love that ITM is taking a darker approach to this album, and this music video brings that out*

In this video we see a much more vulnerable side to Maria as she sings the chorus. Fully nude and make up run to it’s BRINK. (see what I did there. Maria’s last name is BRINK. TROLOLOLOL)  But on a serious note, the lyrics are powerful in this song. This darker side to Maria is something we haven’t seen since the days of “Daddy’s Fallen Angel”

In case you missed my full song review of this track you can check it here.

Teesa: Rebel (UPDATE W/ MUSIC VIDEO)

Teesa

Dance, Rock, Electronic

Rebel

*This video is a fun, crazy rebellious battle of the asian hair styles. It is pretty badass. I swear Teesa has more ways to style her hair than a poodle*

INTRODUCING: Teesa! This girl is unique as HELL. Which is what I like more than anything. Asian American girl inspired by rock and fueled by synth with a killer style to boot, Teesa is ready to rock dance floors.

The title track off her EP is Rebel; a hot bass pounding robotic club track sure to put you in your place. The chorus bumps in a robotic voice

RE-RE-REBEL. REBEL CUZ I LIKE IT. RE-RE-REBEL REBEL I CAN’T FIGHT IT.

When that chorus came in in the first 4 seconds I’m all like

Gewrl.

Her EP randomly popped up on one of the music sights I look at, and I downloaded based of her look on the album cover. Glad I did. Another song off the EP titled “Drug” is just as hot. Teesa has a hot mix of vocals similar to good ole’ Avril Lavigne mice with hot beats. “Rebel“‘s verse has a light guitar over the beat, showing Teesa’s initial rocker roots. The chorus comes in hard with a much more hectic beat, and shit is ON POINT.

The peak of the song comes after the second chorus where her vocal slowly fades in saying “give em your battle cry” ultimately leading up to an insane instrumental break similar to the final break of Kerli’s “Zero Gravity”

GIVE EM YOUR BATTLE CRY

I’ve been trying to find out more about her, unfortunately there isn’t much out there.

She is getting no virtual love and that NEEDS TO CHANGE. So give this girl a like on Facebook and a follow on twitter for gods sake. She deserves it.

Richard Vission: When It Feels This Good (feat Luciana)

Richard Vission

House, Electro House

When It Feels This Good (feat Luciana)

Oh dead yes lord. The holy duo that is Richard Vission and Luciana. Continuing on with this spree of fast paced girl powered house is this bumping jam. Although I am a little late on this one too apparently..it just popped up on my blog the other day. SO ITS NEW TO ME!

The video starts off with Luciana with her traffic cone orange wig and her “Roller Dolls” as they raise hell in the streets. Robbing people cuz they’re sexy and they know it. I was initially scared at the beginning that Luciana had switched to more singing than her rapping..but i was wrong. DEAD WRONG.

“You want me cuz i got that swagger”

I WANT YOUR CANDY

COME ON MY MAKE IT DIRTY.

The crazy hard synth storm comes in as Luciana raps to the beat with her super amaze balls accent.

LET ME POP YO ZIPPUH!

ROCK YOU LIKE A STRIPPUHHHH!!!

However, Luciana…I gotta say..when you jacked that man’s van…you were driving in roller skates. THAT SHIT ISN’T SAFE GIRL. If you die trying to make a reckless music video..I’d be so mad. Being all reckless and gorgeous.

I’ll forgive you only if you keep busting out flawless music that is flawless. Thanks girl <3

Cherie Lily- Dripping Wet

Cherie Lily

Dance, House, “Houserobics”

Dripping Wet

Introducing! Cherie Lily! Wife of Andrew W.K., fitness guru, and from what I can deduce from her music video’s Fag Hag extrordinare. “Dripping Wet” features cameos from Cazwell (a gay rapper), and Amanda LePore (a transgendered performer), and other drag queens and various homosexuals. I love Cazwell so I’m sold. He is very pretty.

It is hard not to notice that Cherie isn’t a fitness pro in this video. She is ripped. Like her body is insane, especially when WET. I bet she is the one that gave Andrew W.K that bloody nose. And I also bet he wasn’t even mad. It is also hard to not notice Cherie’s clear obsession with 80’s work out attire. Her one piece thong suits are on POINT. This is the only thing I can think of while watching it though.

CALL ON MEEEEEE CALLL MEEEEE

I can’t lie, I also thoroughly enjoy the cheesiness of this video. Like she isn’t trying to allude to sex at all. It is just pure sexual sweat going on in this video. And their is lots of moisture. Whether it is sweat, exploding cream balloons, or liquids of unknown origins, you know what she is talking about when says she is dripping wet. Slowed down cinematography adds to the feel during the chorus as Amanda LePore psychoticly cackles while shooting a water gun.

This face.

Cherie has coined her music with the genre “Houserobics” combining house music with fitness friendly beats. “Dripping Wet” features fun, fast paced beats, with a half tempo, body grind worthy chorus, and a dubstepish bridge to complete all your homosexual needs. This was a track I liked the first time I heard it (which doesn’t happen often). Just in time for Saturday night escapades!

GET ME HOT N BOTHERED MAKE ME TAKE IT TAKE IT FURTHER

Cherie Lily also has another single called “Werk” taking a bite out of the ballroom/ vogueing scene. For those who don’t know what that is. It’s a gay thing.
