So Will.I.Am’s song with Chris Brown

I have seen MULTIPLE posts of people ripping on will.i.am’s new song with Chris Brown; “Let’s Go” ripping off Arty & Mat Zo’s “Rebound”.  Things like: image

Okay, so, will.i.am samples a song for his song. The fact of the matter is literally EVERY major recording artist has sampled other people’s work. I am not defending him as an artist, but people that are ignorant of the music industry and insult someone because they realize one track. “Stealing” and “Sampling” are two totally different things.

And if it is because lack of crediting Arty & Mat Zo, to reiterate, almost every artist sample other peoples work with lack of credit. Pitbull and Flo Rida being some of the worst offenders. Did you know Ke$ha’s hit single “Take It Off” samples the melody of an old French nursery rhyme? Did she credit that song? Nope. It is irrelevant. Just because will.i.am is using the beats of someone else’s less popular work and making it more popular should only give reason to people to check out Arty & Mat Zo’s work. If anything they would be getting more attenion from his sampling. You reading this right now might make you go listen to it, and therefore the service is already done.

Lack of permission is one thing. I agree compensation should be made to them, but people ripping on his production skills and saying he stole it because he sucks is stupid.

So there. He didn’t steal it. Sampling is a major part of the music industry

Fuck Ya Boifriend

Qurl. With how busy I’ve been you know I wouldnt waste your time unless this shit was REAL. I bring you Cakes Da Killa. Homosexual rapper, badass bitch and lyrical slayer. This track fools you in the first 20 seconds with a bass drop and the cunty vogue synth snarls.  Then like a rocket he starts laying down fast dirty lyrics to make you want to drop to the floor. At first youll be like

Then youll be like
and before long youll be like
With a deep tone to his voice and such speed in his raps it reminds me of Azealia Bank’s “Fierce”, except way better. Occasional pitch drops in his voice also make me quite happy.
KILLABITCH ROAD KILL.
OH and this dope shit? Free. I said it.
FREE.
srsly.

#thatPOWER (feat Justin Bieber)

Now, I’m not really one for the Biebs, but this song….THIS. SONG. Willy is coming for vogue nation with these tracks I swear. It starts off with a cute high synth followed by a pretty average choral break…but then something changes….the synth entirely cuts out and the Biebs just goes

And I’m loving every second

stronger

POWER

I GOT DAT POWER
DUN DUN DUN DUN DUNDUNDUNDADUNDUN
This is a gif of will.i.am coming for Bruno Mars’ number one spot
I swear I’ll be voguing for days to this. And I dont even vogue. Its too good. Im already sad for when it gets over played by the masses. I bet there will be some awesome remixes though. Until then?

Super Dope (feat Whiskey Pete)

That this track is super dope.
This track I randomly found on beatport. To my amazement it is apart of a remix EP. And let me tell you something kiddies. If you are into electro house
LISTEN
TO
EVERY
REMIX.
They are all fucking gold. I rarely find remixes to a song that I like a LOT, let alone all of them on a single EP. The Appocalypto has to be my favorite though. It sounds like a bass trumpet raiding the dance floor in search of virgins to take home to the EDM Gods.
And as for the original?
Yup yup. Super Dope.

Wild For The Night (feat Skrillex & Birdy Nam Nam)

This track is interesting. Starting off with a simple bass, and vocals pitched all the way down, the rap sounds funny to me. Then before you know it, Skrillex’s style becomes apparent and vocals return to normal.

Its pretty dope, because in the beginning you feel like a gangsta listening to it,

and then in a flash you’re a rager bro. It’s entertaining as fuck. Skrillex also takes a unique approach. From his usual brostep manic sounds to very dutchy synths to accompany the hip hop beat. I approve sir. I approve. You made this track with grace.

Ohay qurl. You been gone for a minute. You always poppin with slow music…oh okay..I guess Ill listen to your new track…sure why no-HOLY HELL.

Ladies, grab hold of your dollar store wigs, because Leona ain’t fuckin with no .99 cent menus today.

So I start listening to this track, and it has a dubstepish tempo style to the beat. And I was all like hmmm

It slowly starts to get faster as Leona chants beautifully over the rising tempo of the track.

Then….the unspeakable happens….

AND ILL LOVE YOU WITH MY GLASS HEART.

INSANE.

The Zedd-esque bass snarls through ripping off those cheap wigs I warned you about along its way, like a bass tornado. Leona, you are going in. Now despite my greatest wishes, this was the only EDM inspired track (excluding Collide’s Remix) on the new album.

She still is perfect looking to match her perfect voice. I guess I’ll forgive her. THIS TIME

We’ve Only Just Begun (feat Ester Dean)

Here is a track that somehow slipped past me. Coming out in September, this track featuring lyrical genius Ester Dean. Ester Dean has written many of today’s pop singles and also sings many of the demos. And of course she has a lot of her own singles including the ever popular “Drop It Low”. Here she sings for Michael Woods surprisingly good track.

I’m watching you Michael Woods….

Starting off with a cool wobble followed by Ester’s vocals and a smooth bass drum, this beat makes me sweat Sweet Nothing.

The wobbley bass line turns into the progressive synthed out chorus. Although I’m sad to see the wobble go, this synth here is just as good. The verse and chorus repeat making for an overall decent house track. I could see it being a pop record, but at this point being 4 months ago since it came out, there is little hope. Don’t be afraid to give it a whirl though!
