Ready For The Weekend
Ever since I heard their song “I Love It”, I’ve been keeping a close eye on the duo known as Icona Pop. They have a great sound. Mixing dance music with their high shouty vocals, it makes for some great anthem type music in my opinion.
The track starts off with some church like chants of the two saying “grab somebody gooooo and live it upppppp”…at first you are like wtf is going on. I don’t like gospel. I r confused. Then the Skrillex sounding mega high pitched voice comes in to replace it
GRAB SOMEBODY GO LIVE IT UPPPP
GET READY READY READY FOR THE WEEKEND.
Here is a visual representation of what is felt in this transition:

The intense house break comes in soon following the two shouting gleefully over the beat. The song just sounds epic as fuck. To quote their last single...I LOVE IT! I DONT CARE. I LOVE IT!
Watch out for Icona Pop. The blogosphere is paying them some due respect, they very well could blow up. Ill be like

Remember liking Icona Pop is legal on other planets.

I Like (feat Victoria Kern)
Okay, so this is my favorite kind of club music. A gnarly beat with some random ass girl with some super sexual fast paced rap verses. AKA Everything Luciana as ever done. This Victoria Kern girl is the Bodybangers personal favorite. Featured on two other tracks (which I may put on here too because they are both fucking awesome too) Kern’s fast paced lyrics really add to the track.
“I LIKE THE D. I LIKE THE G. I LIKE MY LOUIE AND MY V.”
Uhm pardon my French fries but…

cunt.
Oh did you manage to live long enough to get to the beat drop? It sounds like a defibrillator shocker made out of drums having sex with a drill. It’s insane. This like my previous post are super crazeballz 2013. It’s so hot.

By the powers of naughtiness, I command this particular drop to be really, REALLY HOT!
This track reminds me of a lot of Luciana and Bodyrox track “I Like That”. Not because it is about liking things. But the nature of the verses, and the beat created by the remarkably similarly named Bodyrox and Bodybangers.
Although this track is almost a year old, it is still a good one. I’m mad I missed this. I will be following these folks from here on though.

Play Hard- EP

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR MONTHS FOR THIS.

THE LONG AWAITED FIRST EP OF KREWELLA. Omg. The miracles and life given from this group….it’s unparalleled. Gaining almost 14 K in plays on this track in two days is nothing to shy at.
Play Hard- The title track of the EP is one of those trickster tracks. Coming in hard right from the beginning with a hard hitting electro house beat, the girls tempt us with how hard they can play. “Youre fuckin with the star. I can play hard”. A short verse follows leading up to the TRICK of the song. The song takes a 180 from the electro house beat to the mind altering drop as keys rapidly spin over a bass drop.

Literally me.
Killin It’- “Killin It’” remains one of my favorite tracks off the EP. Fast paced, and killer verses. In case you missed it, I did a full review of this track a while back here.
Can’t Control Myself- Starting off as a poppy sounding track “la la la la let’s do something that we shouldn’t do” hums over the bleepy tater tot beat. The build up begins to become more apparent to the true nature of this track. The hard electro beat snaps in your ear buds in two. My favorite part of the drop is how they linked up vocal “ohs” to a keyboard and ran up and down it quickly. This track comes through a lot harder than you think it will.

I CANT CONTROL MYSELF
Alive- Alive starts off with a pretty basic dance beat. (I’m genuinely surprised they stuck with the more faster tempo dubstep) I’m not mad though, that is what got them popular from the beginning. Mixing house with hard dubstep breaks. “Alive” is a really pretty track. Cute vocals, a very David Guetta sounding track. It reminds me of “Titanium” in a way. Just in the sense of the overall feel of the song. This is the most radio friendly track on the EP. If anything this could do well on the dance charts since the world isn’t fully ready for the hard hitting dubstep world. And with the EP being streamed through Rolling Stone, they are on the right path towards making a radio single.

I KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE COME ON MAKE ME FEEL ALIVE
One Minute- The only veteran track to return to the EP of the three previously unofficial singles released. I was secretly hoping the group would revamp the track from the original for the EP, because they love remixing, but I’m not mad. ”One Minute” shows what Krewella works best with. Beautiful vocals, destructive drop. Sounds like a really peaceful song (like most of their tracks from the beginning, but really isnt. Vocal samples (staples of the trio) are laced in between the wobbles. The second verse comes in with hard hitting rap vocals. “I’m your kitting girl, and your back is like my scratching post. Come on make me scream like I’ve like I’ve seen a ghost”. I SENSE SOME SEXUAL RAGE PENT UP.

Feel Me- The final track is the most sexual track of the six. Coming in with the trademark vocal samples, this track has hot verses, and a sexual chorus. “Cuz no one’s ever touched me there like this…” Oh yes god. I see you girls. The drop hits you hard with a barrage of bass, vocal samples, and bleeps like shrapnel exploding. This song could be a good dubstep lap dance song.

NOT A LAP DANCE

CLOSER. but still not right„,

Thats the one.
This EP is epic as fuck. Krewella is doin shit no one else is doing right now. There are no artists making pure dubstep tracks for themselves. I mean, plenty of DJ’s are obviously making dubstep, but not a lot are adding their own vocals and making their own tracks. They are remixing other tracks, or having features. Krewella can do it all for themselves. I’m giving this EP a 10 out of 10!
Pros:
Well versed in genres between electro house and dubstep
Beautiful vocals mixed with hard verses
Hard hitting dubstep breaks, but still have soft dance beats.
Cons:
I think they could have included “Life of the Party” and “Strobe Lights” and then pushed towards making a full first album as opposed to just an EP
Check out the stream of the full EP here off the Rolling Stone website, and be sure to pick it up off Beatport tomorrow June 18th!.

Forever (Jean Elan Remix)
It’s not too often that I find a remix of a song that I like so much, I prefer it over the original. This is one of those cases. The beat in this song rocks me like a mo fuggin hurricane.

For those who don’t know Medina, she is a Danish pop/r&b singer who has actually has five albums under her belt, two of which are English albums one which has yet to be released. She has has relatively good national success. “Forever” is the title track off her upcoming album Forever, which is due out June 1.
Medina has honestly never released anything that has truely rubbed me the right way. I don’t dislike her, but I don’t know the words to any of her songs if that is a clear way to describe it. “Forever” is the first case of this, but only because of this remix. Her soothing voice goes well over the hard hitting wobble of this track.
THEN.
JUST WHEN YOU THINK THINGS ARE COOL SHIT.

#boom. The beat stops, and in comes a Cascade style cheesey ass stabby key beat, that is equally fucking epic.
*DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN*
*DUM DUM DUM DUM DUM*
YOU AND ME FOREVERRRRRRRR

YOU YOU ME ME FOR EVEVEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Oh but you think you are into Cascada zone for good?

BACK TO WOBBLE BEAT.
Ugh.
Just. rage everywhere to this song.
